Recently Google has changed the way it works and it is placing a major focus on locations and places with the launch of a new product called "Google Hotpot" and the expansion of its existing product "Google Places".

Why is Google making these changes?

Well a near 250% increase in the use of iPhones and mobile devices in Australia over the last 12 months goes someway to explaining this change.
People are using the Internet on the move now and Google has adapted accordingly by displaying results that are relevant to your current location.
